FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Can anyone join Mat Pilates / Reformer Pilates?
Yes, our classes are designed for beginners through to experienced Pilates enthusiasts. As Physiotherapy taught classes, with only 6 participants, our aim is to ensure you are taught the correct technique making you feel confident during the classes. You do not need to be having physiotherapy or be rehabilitating an injury to join the classes. Everyone is welcome.
2. Is Pilates reformer suitable for beginners?
Yes, Reformer Pilates is suitable for beginners. An induction with one of the team prior to your class will demonstrate how to use the machine, safety aspects and advise on the best classes to join.
3. I have tried Reformer before, do I need to attend an induction?
Yes - all clients will need to have a 1:1 with one of our specialist team to determine goals, safety of using the machine and advise on the best classes to join.
4. Do I need any special clothing or equipment when attending a mat or reformer class?
It's best to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows for ease of movement. Please bringing along a water bottle and small towel. Reformer Classes will require grippy socks and for Mat classes - your own mat is required, however for trial classes or if you forget we have lots of spare mats.
5. How many times a week should I practice Pilates?
For optimal benefits, it’s generally recommended to practice Pilates 2 to 3 times per week.
This frequency allows for muscle recovery while providing consistent engagement to improve strength, flexibility, and overall body awareness.
6. Can Mat /Reformer Pilates help with injuries?
Yes, Pilates can be beneficial for injury rehabilitation as it focuses on building core strength, improving flexibility, and enhancing body awareness. By emphasizing controlled movements and proper alignment, it helps in strengthening surrounding muscles, reducing pain, and preventing further injuries.
7. What can I expect during a session and how long are classes typically?
Humanity's classes are 55-mins long, the session consist of a warm-up, main workout and a cool down. We ask at the end of the Reformer session to wipe down the bed, for the next class. Thus making it hygienic for your class and the class that follows.
